Following the success of the Troy Studios Open Day on Oct 15th last, Limerick.ie in conjunction with Innovate Limerick have launched a new website hub for Film making in Limerick, highlighting areas such as locations, production and crewing for the region.

With information on film permits, tax benefits, accommodation and many other production questions, Film In Limerick will be a vital resource for film makers in the region.

Born out of a commitment to cater for the film industry in Limerick and promote its profile, Film in Limerick is a project developed by Innovate Limerick. Ours is a service specifically geared towards the film, television, moving image art and online video industries, in Limerick and the Mid-West region.

We are dedicated to being your one port of call for a wealth of advice, information, contacts and resources – all designed to make your filmmaking experience here easier, smoother and more streamlined.

We answer the questions, solve the queries and get the information you need – so you don’t have to.

This is the quick photo of some of the team behind ‘Only Child’ which won the awards for Best Camera and Best Overall Short Film in April last. We were delighted to finally get their awards and prize (supplied by Whelan Cameras) to them.

This photo was taken on a random doorstep in Edinburgh at the end of a recce to the Highlands of Scotland. They hope to send another soon with Director Andy Toovey in South Wales when they catch up with him.

Congrats guys well done again.

Clockmaker’s Dream wins at Limerick Film Festival

Local film, The Clockmaker’s Dream, won the inaugural Best Limerick Short Film award at the seventh annual Limerick Film Festival, which was held at LIT recently.

Filmed in Bunratty Folk Park and Limerick city, The Clockmaker’s Dream was directed by Cashell Horgan, who also picked up the award for Best Director at this year’s festival.

Funded by Limerick City of Culture 2014 and supported by local film network, Behind the Scenes, the film featured a host of local actors including Joe Mullins of ‘Pilgrim Hill’ fame.

Limerick Film Festival’s awards show featured thirteen categories this year and an award specific to local films was added to acknowledge the quality of local filmmaking in the city and county.

Hosted by Patrick Hogan, the awards show was produced and streamed by the staff and students of the Video and Sound Technology Programme of Limerick Institute of Technology. A list of all winners can be found here: https://limerickfilmfestival.net/short-film-awards/2016-winners/

Short Film Awards Show

The Limerick Film Festival concludes as always with the Limerick Short Film Awards. The show consists of guest presenters for each of the categories as well as a special guest interval act. The show is recorded and live streamed by the staff and students of the Video & Sound Technology Programme of LIT.

Your host again this year is Patrick Hogan, With a background in Media, Marketing and Public Relations, Patrick has worked for over 15 years in the Irish radio industry with stations in the UTV Radio Group and Newstalk.

The live streaming link will appear on the website on April 16th and we will post further notifications pre, during and post show.
